Topic and Standards

The topic of my lesson plan is "Folktales Around the World". My fifth grade ELL students will first listen to an example of a cultural folktale from the teacher. Next, they will be given the task of researching online for a folktale from their own culture. Then they must write a summary of the folktale they choose, state the moral of the story, and create a picture (relating to the story) using a drawing program on the computer. They will be given time to peer edit and rewrite their drafts. Finally, the students will orally present their summary and picture to the class.
